This project was completed for a young family with a beautiful home that was in need of some simple adjustments to make the space more "them". They were great to work with and open to stepping outside of their typical decorating box.
We began with a plan that centered around an awesome over-scaled damask floral rug that I'd been itching to use. Honestly, when I proposed the idea, I didn't think they'd go for it. I'm so glad they did. From there, I was drawn to this awesome Lee Jofa linen fabric (far left).
The space wasn't in bad shape at all, it just wasn't reflective of the client's style any longer. I loved that they recognized that and decided to make it their own. With that, here's the finished product!

One of the most impactful changes was the resurfacing of the fireplace. The clients chose a light stacked travertine to give the space a more modern look. I was also amazed at how big of a difference shifting the paint color from a creamy golden beige to a grayish taupe made.

Probably one of my favorite transformations in this space were the sofas. The client's wanted a very comfortable sofa. That alone isn't a tall order. However, when you couple that with the desire to have a streamlined look at a somewhat reasonable price, things can get a little complicated. Once again I relied on Baity's Custom Upholstery to help. We found this supremely comfortable Pottery Barn Basics down filled sofa and transformed it into something more fitting for the modern plan for the room.
Here's a final look...
And with that, we closed the chapter on 2013. Here's to another fabulous dwelling and a fabulous year ahead....
