"Project Breton Reveal"

I'm so excited to share the reveal of our latest project!

In this one, we tackled the great room, guest bathroom and the formal dining room that was converted into a gentleman's den.  The project, which was completed for a young family who'd recently relocated to the Charlotte area, was inspired by their existing art collection.

Here's a look at where we began...

A small collection of music inspired and abstract black art featuring golden shades of yellow and orange, purples, teals and greens, became the jumping off point for the color scheme.

In the living area, we focused on livability with a large sectional covered in performance fabric from my partner Revolution.

Revolution Romero
The subtle herringbone print adds just the right amount of texture while still remaining a neutral backdrop for pops of color.

The clients decided to keep the backdrop neutral for now and opted not to paint just yet, so we purposefully added color to the space with a pair of teal chairs.

They are by far one of my favorite elements.

In the adjacent area, we created a cozy eating area just off the kitchen with the addition of a table and seating for six.  The custom banquette we designed (fabricated by Baity's Custom Upholstery) was just what the space needed to add a casual vibe to the eat-in area.

Next up was the guest bathroom.

York Wallcoverings
We amped up the guest bath with a swanky wallpaper from York Wallcoverings.  It changed the entire feel of the space.

New lighting, mirror and artwork and this space is now ready for guests.

The man of the house wanted a space to call his own, so we converted the formal dining room into a space just for him.  Here's a look at the before...

With the addition of Sherwin Williams' Pewter Green, the space instantly became more warm and cozy.

We added a silver clad cabinet with upholstered doors for tons of storage and two swivel chairs for super comfortable seating.

I don't know about you, but this space definitely looks like a place I'd like to watch the game.

"Here We Grow Again"

Toward the end of 2017, it became pretty apparent that if I was going to be able to operate a sustainable design business, I was going to need some help.  Honestly, the thought was daunting and I put off searching for months.  I knew however, that beginning 2018 on the right foot meant finding a new intern that had the potential to become my first employee.

I put out an all-call on social media and the applications began to come in.  As they had in previous years, great candidates surfaced but I wanted to ensure that I found someone with staying power.

Enters Jenn...

After a formal phone interview in late December, we met for a follow-up, in-person meeting shortly thereafter.  We hadn't finished our chips and queso before I realized she was THE ONE.  ðŸ˜ƒ  Maybe it was her interest in my business processes or her astute assessment of what was missing, either way, it was easy to see she was a keeper.

We met for an orientation in early January and it's been full steam ahead ever since.

Jenn is a native of Winston Salem, North Carolina and studied Interdisciplinary Studio Art and Art Management at Appalachian State University.  She comes to us with a keen ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, a skill she honed during a stint in hospitality management.

She's the perfect combination of artsy and uber organize.  (I know, she's kind of a unicorn.) 😂 Jenn is extremely process-oriented and keeps me on my toes and in line.  She even gives me a day off here and there!  Best of all though, is the fact that she genuinely cares about my business and our clients.  I'm happy to have the pleasure to show her the ropes and to grow my business with her help.

Last month, Jenn was promoted from Intern to Design Assistant, becoming my very first team member and I couldn't be more thrilled about it.

We both love good deals and antique malls, value professionalism and integrity and have an affinity for color (pink in particular) and well...the bangs are optional.

Join me in welcoming the newest addition to the Dwell by Cheryl Interiors team!
