I’ve long wondered, of all of the young, professional and fabulous people I know, why have none of them ever hired an interior designer. Are they uninterested in creating a beautiful home? Do they prefer builder basic to custom designed? Or do they view design assistance as a service reserved for those featured on The Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous? I believe that everyone deserves to Dwell in a space that they absolutely cannot wait to come home to.
I was born and raised in Gulfport, Mississippi and moved to the Carolinas in 1999 after graduating from Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Science. I’m a Registered Dietitian by trade, working in Human Resources by day, but completely obsessed with interior design.
My love for decorating dates back to elementary school when I’d line up my slumber party guest’s shoes along the wall, so as not to have them as a visual distraction. A three-year stent in fashion merchandising and modeling in high school served as yet another opportunity to exercise my creative muscle. It also should’ve been a dead give-a-way that I was destined to work in a creative field, but better late than never. Because I recognize that you need more than just a good “eye”, I’m back in school nearing completion of an Interior Design program in Charlotte, NC. When I’m not at work, in class or decorating a space for a client (or myself), I can typically be found hunting down a deal on just about anything. I have a partnership with our 12 local Habitat ReStores so I'm a bit partial to them.
After nearly a decade of denial, deliberation and deferring, I finally decided to go for it and at long last I am the owner of Dwell by Cheryl Interiors. Hopefully, my decorating chronicles will in someway inspire you to create a space where you indeed want to Dwell.
