Since I was a little girl, I've always loved birthdays...
....ok, and cake. I decided in my early 20's that as I "matured", if I was going to be able to enjoy an annual birthday celebration, it was going to be up to me to make it happen. So every since then, I've taken (birthday) matters into my own hands. And over the years, I've had some pretty memorable celebrations.

On my actual birthday last Thursday I had a "me" day and it was great. But all week and even this week I've also been treated to birthday lunches and dinners with friends here and there.
and great gifts to boot...

It's been pretty cool. And it's almost a week after my birthday and I'm not even done yet.
So you tell me, birthday party or low key birthday that seems to stretch out for weeks? You be the judge.
You know it just dawned on me that I never got any birthday cake. I guess it's never too late for cake.

Happy Birthday! This reminds me of a friend who threw her own 'surprise' party when she turned 40. She mailed invitations, so, everyone thought it was going to be a surprise. When we got to the location, there she was ready to serve the cake! She gave reading glasses as party favors. A few years later, she surprised herself with a late-in-life pregnancy and gave birth to her 7th baby! :) --S.Strohm
Love it!
Happy belated birthday!!! If my memory is correct, I was there with you in 2007 :)
Thanks and yes you were. : )
Glad you found lots of ways to celebrate. One more on Monday!
Happy Belated Birthday!!
I too love birthdays and my friends know it. I usually celebrate in a small way 3 weekends of my bday month and 1 weekend is the "big" event for friends and family who can join me. Don't stop celebrating your life and all the blessings you've been bestowed. It's ok to have a quiet year, just not every year. Trust me, your friends enjoy the way you embrace birthdays. One year, I threatened to have a cakeless bday celebration because I was on a weight loss kick. My friends said they weren't coming unless my mom made the cake. Juanita
Too funny! Thanks Juanita.
