"Let's Get Real"

Could somebody, anybody, please make this week slow down?  Why is it that days always seem to fly by when you're trying to cram too much into them?  Amazing isn't it?  Well, today I'm dropping in to show you some behind the scenes madness. Yep.

If you follow any number of design blogs or design bloggers on social media, it can appear that we have it all together (at least at home) and that every inch of our homes is beautifully decorated.  NOT! The truth is, we only show you what we want you to see.

Currently I've got a hott mess in mine.  It's actually why I haven't been blogging as frequently as I usually do.  I'm trying to be o.k. with it though.  I have to remind myself that I didn't set out to be a blogger, I set out to be a designer.  The blog is just a way for me to share my passion, inspiration and projects with you guys.  So, I try to cut myself some slack with the guilt begins to set in.

Here's my current situation.  I'm in the midst of a master bedroom project that I shared a couple of weeks ago.

This is my unorthodox way of getting my head wrapped around how things are coming together.  Hey, it works.

In addition, I've been trying to get started on my office revamp since the beginning of the year.  It's just one of those projects that keeps getting pushed to the back burner.  I thought I'd get a jump start by donating my desk to the Habitat ReStore

Uhhhh, yeah clearly that didn't work.

Next, I'm also planning an April yard sale, so I have stuff piled up in my guest bedroom awaiting tagging.

Oh yeah, and let's not forget that I'm in school.  The fact that I missed a week of class while at the Design Bloggers Conference means NO Spring Break for me.  : (

It is what it is.  I figure....

I feel much better about my mess now! Thanks for the reminder that it's time to plan for a springs yard sale. Your blog last year was very helpful.

I'm SO ready for my yard sale too! Nothing like clearing things OUT and getting paid to do it.

I like what's developing in the rooms you are redoing, though--there are some really great pieces there and they are going to look awesome together!

Good post! I appreciate your transparency. Can I get it on that yard sale? I have a closet full myself!

I love every bit of seeing your chaos!! Behind the scenes is where the 'real' life is and I loved that you said 'we only show you what we want you to see'! So true, so true! I also love the 'I didn't set out to be a blogger, I set out to be a designer'! Music to my ears, as I am beating myself up for not having blogged since Jan 24! Thank you for your honesty!! Wishing much success to you!
