DIY: Mirror on Mirror

Hopefully you guys aren't sick of hearing about my guest bathroom, because I made another addition that I'm excited to share with you.  It's funny because this is about my third post regarding this little makeover, but I seem to keep making small improvements along the way.  But, isn't that how it goes anyway? You never just complete an improvement project in your home all at once.  It's the little things you add along the way that make the end result that much more you.
I've had plans to frame out my bathroom mirrors with Mirror Mates frames for years, but there always seems to be a more pressing need to take care of.  Well, while taking the trash out on Friday, I noticed a mirror that a friend gave me recently.  When you're a decorator, people often donate their castoffs to you, and I gladly accept them. It was a standard rectangular mirror with a great frame.  It suddenly hit me that it would be the perfect thing for my guest bath.
Not sure if  you've seen the mirror on mirror look that's commonly used in bathrooms these days, but I'm loving it.

Anywho, I decided to remove the mirror from the frame.  You don't actually need a mirror on mirror to achieve the look.  It was much easier to affix without the weight of the mirror inside.
I used 3M Command strips that I attached to the frame and the mirror.  Those things are magical and lock together better than Velcro.

I realized once I placed the frame on the mirror that you could see inside the mirror and the frayed backing wasn't attractive.  Remedy:  I took it out back and added a quick coat of black spray paint around the inside edge to cover things up.  Much better...
A quick leveling out...
...and a 45 minute (start to finish) weekend warrior project completed!

By the way, I purchased a couple of new house plants this weekend, including this succulent. Love!  I think I'm getting spring fever.
Even if it did look like this over the weekend.

Happy Monday!

I never would have thought to place that mirror on top, but it really does add a great dimension to the space! Love the contrast!
