Friday Find: Wal-Mart.com

Happy Friday Y'all!  So excited about this weekend.  It's my birthday weekend and you know how much I love a birthday.  You may recall the posts I did previously about taking control of my birthday celebration, hosting a destination party , themed one and decentralizing your birthday celebration.  But, before I share details about my big day, I had to share with you this awesome Friday Find.

It's been a while now, but I've shared once before about the great finds at Wal-Mart.com.  Yep, Wal-Mart!  It was actually when I revamped my entry that I discovered their great selection.  You can check that post out HERE.  Well, I continue to be pleasantly surprised with the growing selection of affordable, on-trend home décor and furnishings.  Just check out some of my favorites I've rounded up.

I'm actually picking up the storage cart (7.) tomorrow at my local store.  I've ordered it to function as an outdoor bar cart for this weekend's soiree.  I can't wait to share it with you all decked out.

Anyway, yet another case for leaving no stone unturned when it comes to budget decorating.  Hope you have a fabulous weekend.  I certainly intend to!

The Budget Entry Upgrade Reveal!

My entry has been in need of a makeover for quite some time now.  Sometimes when you move from one home to another, the furnishing from the previous home don't work quite as well in the new home.  However, we typically make them work, at least temporarily, never really loving them. That was certainly the case with this dated wrought iron bench.  I finally said goodbye to it at my recent yard sale.

I had my mind fixed on a more updated entry that included seating and storage.  I blogged about my plan on my Updating the Entry post.

It all started with the awesome storage ottomans I mentioned last week that I found, of all places, Wal-Mart, A Surprising Source for home décor.  Then, I was so pleased with my previous hack of the Ikea Vittsjo nesting tables last year, that I decided the line's laptop desk would be the perfect addition.

A quick spray with my favorite gold spray paint, and instantly I had a much classier entry.

As it would happen, those ottomans from Wal-Mart were waaaaaaaaaaaaay nicer than I thought they'd be.  The description said they were cream and brown, but up close, they're really more taupe and brown.  Lucky for me, I happen to like that even better.

They are the perfect spot for storing my winter weather accessories....

With the ottomans and console in place, I moved on to accessories.  I picked up this horse statue for $3 a month or so ago at the Metrolina Expo.  I figured it was a perfect candidate for a little spray painting project and the price was right.

Then I recalled that I purchased this framed red ribbon (from Target) at Goodwill a while back, but never could figure out what to do with it.  A horse red ribbon, a gold horse statue; Hello equestrian theme.

Not that I've ever actually been on a horse, but it sure makes for a cute vignette. Lol!  Combined with my newly stenciled wall, I love the result.

At $150, I think I did pretty darn well.  Now all I need is a new runner.

  And so it continues....

"A Surprising Source"

Hi all!  I hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend.  I'd like to say that I got some rest and relaxation, but I can't.  You know it's true what they say, design is never done.  I had hoped to be able to reveal my living room makeover today, but unfortunately stenciling the longest wall in your house is a very time consuming project to complete.  The best I can do is offer a sneak peek.

I think I'm really going to love the finished product.  Here's hoping I can get it done soon. My living room is a wreck.

In other news, I stumbled upon this awesome storage ottoman last week while surfing the web.

I've been looking for a set of two for a little entry makeover I'm working on.  I loved the fact that these were small but sturdy, offered ample storage inside and were covered in a modern yet neutral fabric.

They also received really great buyer reviews online and the price was unbeatable.  You'll never guess where I got them....

Yep.  That's what I said.  I know we're all obsessed with Target and their super cool on-trend options but you may want to give Wal-Mart a second look.  Now, I have to admit, I am NOT a Wal-Mart fan (for numerous reasons), but after perusing their website, I stumbled upon a number of winners.

Wal-Mart's website actually sells merchandise for a number of other more expensive sites like Wayfair, but the Wal-Mart branded items still offer the best pricing.  I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised with their options.  My shopping philosophy has always been a leave no stone unturned kind of approach.  Let's just say I may have just found a new stone.

Have you purchased any great home décor items at Wal-Mart lately?
