"Master Makeover: Week 2"

Hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend.  I have to say, I was actually surprised how long my weekend seemed to last.  That NEVER happens, and I'm certainly not complaining about it.

Well, the master makeover project continues and I'm popping in to share my week 2 progress report.  With one week, in this 3 week makeover, already down, it was time to bite the bullet and make some decisions.  Thankfully, the holiday weekend proved pretty successful in terms of getting a few things knocked off the list.

For starters, on an evening trip to Tuesday Morning last week, I scored the most amazing Barbara Berry bedding for 84% off the retail price. Yep, 84%!

Pretty cool when you consider the fact that it's not only beautiful bedding but I actually met design icon Barbara Barry at the Design Bloggers Conference in LA a couple of years ago.  A lovely lady with lovely style.  Trust me, I'll rest easy in the sumptuous combed cotton duvet cover and pillow shams.

Mid-week I dropped off my fabric with the seamstress.  I'm excited! We're going with a French pinch pleats on the drapery and I'm pretty excited about the animal print euro shams as well.   There going to be the animal print on the far right.  I saved a few bucks by getting the feather inserts for them at Ikea.

On Saturday, after searching high and low at Metrolina Expo's Vintage and Antiques Show, I gave up and headed home.  On the way, my upholsterer tagged me in a post from the owner of a local shop called Tuft.  She had just posted this picture on Instagram...

We'd actually discussed him making me something similar, but this one looked like it might work.  Since I was already in the vicinity, I decided to stop by and check it out; get a closer look. It took me about 20 seconds to decide this was it.

It's wrapped in a beautiful taupe/gray leather and I love the clean lines.  It just has a designer feel.

And you know I'm a sucker for a nailhead trim.

So with the bedding and console out of the way, that only left the illusive bedside tables.  I'd said if I couldn't find anything by the end of the weekend, I was going to have to make some decisions.  Well, late Saturday night I decided to check around on the web.  I went to the usual suspects, Wayfair, Overstock, Joss and Main, One Kings Lane, etc.  I ended up on Target's website when I found these...

"Hmmmm, these just might work." I thought.  It certainly didn't hurt that they were on clearance and with my Red Card I could save 5% and get free shipping.  I decided it was worth a try and ordered two. They were the right height and the graywashed finish might just work perfectly.  I am planning to change the finish on the drawer pulls to antiqued brass.  I think that may make them look a little less rustic and a little more me.

Unfortunately, due to a death in his family, my painter had to postpone the painting until later this week, so I'm hoping to be able to report on the finished product next week.

Lastly, all of this new stuff means I'm left with a room full of leftover furniture and that can only mean one thing....YARD SALE!  Yep, if you're local, meet me at my house this Saturday Morning at 7:00 a.m.  Come early because I won't be out long.  A sista's got stuff to do.  ; )

More info on the sale to come....
