It's been said that design is in the details and I totally agree. It's the small things that make for high impact style and ultimately a pulled together space. I thought I'd share with you a few of the items I use to bring that "finished" look to a space.
1. Books
Hard back books add a great foundation for styling on coffee tables, bookshelves, side tables, etc. I typically thrift them for my installs so that I can ensure the covers coordinate with the color scheme in the space. You'd be surprised the difference it makes in adding dimension and even height to vignettes.
2. Baskets
Baskets add not only texture but function to a space. They come in lots of shapes, sizes and colors and I use them in almost every single project. The living room project I'm completing this weekend is no exception.
3. Flowers.
In my personal opinion, the space isn't finished until the flowers are in place. I love how they add just a little touch of luxury to a finished design. Most of us view flowers as a gift to be received on a special occasion, but I try to have them in my home as often as possible. They are an instant mood lifter and far cheaper than therapy. : ) My favorites: Peonies and Hydrangea
Vases are some of the cheapest things to source since they are available in all shapes and sizes at almost all thrift stores. Most sell for $2.00 or less and you just can't beat that. Not to mention, they easily clean up in the dishwasher and look as good as new.
So, there you have a few of my tricks of the trade for finishing off a well decorated space.

Nice finishing touches!!!! I know it was about the books, but love the gold elephant. Good luck tomorrow, can't wait to see the final reveal.
It is really those final touches that give a room texture and depth.
