Hello, hello! Hope you had a fabulous weekend. I was actually able to get quite a bit done this weekend, and the 70 degree weather certainly didn't hurt.
I'm back today to share with you the plans that are currently in the works for my Master Bedroom makeover. It's been nearly eight years and I'm pretty much over it. It's one of the reasons you rarely see pictures of it on the blog. I'm just not satisfied with it anymore and that means it's time for a change. I was reminded by a reader/friend that I really do take my time in making my spaces exactly what I want them to be. She reminded me how my living room had evolved over the three years I've been blogging. So very true! I'll have to take you guys on a trip down memory lane one day. It's been quite a transformation.
For today though, let's talk about the Master. So, I'll likely be getting rid of just about everything I currently have in the space, with the exception of the fireplace and the rug. Yeah, you might want to be at my next yard sale. : ) You may remember a few months ago when I scored 14 yards of the iconic Schumacher Pyne Hollyhock fabric for $49. I blogged about it HERE. In case you don't realize what a great deal that was, a pair of custom drapery panels made with this fabric currently sells for $1,000. I paid $3.50/yard! INSANE right?
So with that in mind, the room will center around the fabric. I'm thinking drapery and a custom tufted headboard for sure. I just need to decide on a headboard shape. I worked to put together a design board this weekend so I could visualize where I'm heading in my mind. (In case you didn't know, Chintz is making a comeback.)
The only thing I can't seem to decide on is the wall color. The above board is a personal fav of mine. I've used it in two projects already. It's Sherwin-Williams' Balanced Beige and is a great neutral that I could see myself working with for years to come.
The next option is the designer's favorite, Sherwin-Williams' Revere Pewter. It's a no fail gray beige and is always a winner. I've also used it in a project before.
While it doesn't look like it, Sherwin Williams' Repose Gray is a great gray option (may appear a little green here, but it's really not.
Believe it or not, I really just usually go with my gut on paint colors. When it comes to my own spaces, I don't even do swatches. I know, I know....Scandalous. What can I say, I know what I like. I'm sure it'll hit me at some point. Until then, I'm going to get to work on picking out that headboard design...

"Deal Seeking"
Sorry about the radio silence last week. I'm not sure where the weeks go. They just seem to fly by. I've been doing quite a bit of deal seeking lately and have scored some pretty awesome finds. Last week, I extended my Labor Day weekend and took a little trip to Asheboro, NC. I heard they had some great antique malls, so I decided to check it out for myself.
I walk in the front door of the first stop and "BAM!" I'm hit by this set of brass nesting tables for $35. Wow! A little Instagram poll confirmed that this deal was too good to pass on.
Needless to say, they made their way back to my house and I LOVE them! Not sure if this is where they'll stay, but you can't beat a good set of nesting tables.
They're so very versatile and I can see me using them for years to come.
Prior to the Asheboro excursion, a quick stop in one of my favorite Goodwill locations yielded these vintage lovelies.
I have a thing for lamps and really didn't need these, but for $6.99 each I couldn't leave them behind.
A little switcheroo and I found the perfect spot for them in my home office.
Loving how this space is coming together. I need a shorter harp on the lamp on the right and I've ordered vintage finials as well. I'll give you a little update on the office project soon.
Apparently, my name is Cheryl and I'm addicted to brass animals. I ran into this brass horse this weekend at the Metrolina Expo Antiques and Collectibles Show and it just jumped in my tote bag (after I gave the vendor $6 of course). This is the last one, I promise. Any more brass animals and it's going to look like a zoo in here.
Hands down, the best deal I've scored lately was this bolt of 14 yards of Schumacher's iconic Chintz, Pyne Hollyhock fabric. I paid just $49! That's $3.50/yard! Just so you know what a big deal that is, here's a site selling drapery panels for $1000/pair.

Unreal!! And just in case you think I'm a little nutty for even wanting Chintz fabric, check out the same fabric in these stunning spaces.

I'm holding on to this for my Master Bedroom. It's just about time for that space to get an entirely new look.
Until next time....

Friday Find: "Chiang Mai Dragon"
If you follow interior design, then you're well aware of the very popular Schumacher print Chiang Mai Dragon. It's pretty iconic. If you don't, allow me to introduce you to this fun, floral, Chinoiserie fabric.
According to Schumacher, "Chiang Mai Dragon is one of our best-loved designs--since its introduction in 2006, the fabric has become iconic among our patterns. The modern Chinoiserie motif, which is screened onto rich linen and is also available as a wallcovering, originally came from an exuberant Art Deco block print that was created in the 1920s."

Why so popular you ask? Well, my guess is that it lends itself well to being used in so many spaces. Simply put, it's verstile. It doesn't lock you into a particular color scheme like so many prints do, since the pattern includes so much color. It can also easily be incorporated into an existing space. Not to mention, it immediatly adds high impact color even in a small dose.
Let's be clear though, this is not just a fabric. It's also a wallcovering...

....and likely has a few other applications. I told you it was iconic.

Oh, did I mention it comes in 13 color ways? Thereby making it that much more versatile of a print. I have to admit, I've resisted the urge to jump on the bandwagon.....until now.

| Chiang Mai Dragon (Jade)
Earlier this week I was introduced to the newest color way, jade, and I may have to give into this one. I mean it's pink and green after all. If I decide to add it to my home it will likely be in a small amount (it's pretty $$$). Plus, I think too much of a good thing can be very BAD. I love how my friend Jennifer of Dimples and Tangles uses it in her dining room.

See how a little goes a long way? I'll keep you posted.
What do you think? You either love it or you hate it and everyone is entitled to their preference.
