Third Anniversary Giveaway Winners!

Happy Monday Y'all!

Well, it's back to the grind today.  I can't complain, I've had plenty of time off and I have to admit it was pretty restful.  I spent lots of time with family and friends and way too much time wrapped in a new purple paisley robe watching an obscene number of old episodes of The Walking Dead.  Yes, I'm a huge fan.

I have so much to share with you guys in the coming posts, including my latest project reveal that includes three spaces, a recap of the best of 2014 and a little MLK project I'm going to be working on for Habitat for Humanity of  Charlotte.  But first, I'll get to what so many have been waiting for....the giveaway winners.

First up, the awesome Cutting Edge Stencils Paint-A-Pillow Kit goes to....

Special thanks to everyone who participated and a very special thank you to the sponsors.  Lastly, I cannot thank you enough for your kind words regarding the launch of my new website and for your support and readership over the past three years.  It's been quite a ride, but I have a feeling we're just getting started.

Rugs USA Anniversary Giveaway!

I'm back with the third and final Dwell by Cheryl 3rd Anniversary Giveaway!

If you've been following the blog for any length of time, you know that most of my projects begin from the bottom up.  I likely choose to select the rug first because it can be one of the most costly elements in the space.  Thankfully,  I found Rugs USA very early on and have consistently turned to them to provide the foundation of my designs at amazingly affordable price points (and frequent sales).

One of my favorite rugs is their Handspun Jute Rug.  A natural rug provides so many options for decorating a space.  I fell in love with this one because of its thickness and softness.  It's hard to beat for the price.

The fine folks at Rugs USA have agreed to help me celebrate my 3 year milestone by offering up an 8 X 10 of my favorite rug.

Remember, it's easy to enter.  Just follow the blog if you don't already and leave me a comment telling me where you'd use this versatile rug.  Be sure to leave your email if you comment as "anonymous". The giveaway will run through Saturday, January 3rd at 9:00 p.m. EST.  Winners of all this week's giveaways (yes, there are more) will be announced on Sunday, January 4th.

Paint Giveaway and a Sneak Peek

Happy Friday y'all!  Sorry I was MIA this week.  I had a client install followed by a business trip that unfortunately left no time for blogging.  If it's any consolation I'm back today to announce the winner of the Modern Masters giveaway.

Thanks to those who participated.  I'm pleased to announce that...

Denise will be receiving a quart of  "Elegant" Modern Masters Front Door Paint

I know, I know, such a tease.  The space turned out great and the clients loved it.  I can't wait to share the complete reveal with you.  Once againm we've incorporated some amazing furniture transformations.  Until then....

Front Door Paint Giveaway!

Well today is the day.  I'm back to share a little more about the fabulous Modern Master's Front Door Paint and to offer you guys a great opportunity to score a free quart of your own.

I'm sure you gathered from my last post that I couldn't be more pleased with the transformation of my back door. The paint was awesome!  It dried quickly, went on smoothly and only required two coats.  What else could you ask for?  How about the fact that it NEVER fades?  A point that was particularly important to me given the fact that my back door (garage entrance) is completely exposed to the sun and elements.

I love that Front Door Paint comes in 24 colors glorious colors.  I suppose that could be a little overwhelming for some.  No worries, they have the coolest app EVER!!

You literally just download the app, snap a picture of the door you wish to paint and try on a color.  Here's an example of one of the colors I tried on in the app.

Honestly, it was likely this helpful tool that revealed that I need to go with the darker "Cheerful" hue instead of the "Energetic" one.

So, I know you're all waiting to hear how you can win.  Well here's the deal...

1.  Browse the Modern Masters website and select one of the Front Door Paint colors you'd like to use for a project.  Keep in mind that Front Door Paint can be used for interior and exterior doors and trim.  Plus, a quart of paint provides plenty to paint multiple doors.

2.  Return to the blog and leave me a comment telling me which paint color (emotion) is your favorite.

For Bonus Entries (honor system):
Note: A maximum of five total entries. Only one comment is needed for all entries.

The lucky winner will be able to select One Quart -any color of Front Door Paint with free shipping within the continental US.  Yay!

The giveaway will run through next Thursday.  I'll announce the winner on next Friday.  Good luck!!

"Dining Room Tree and Dollar Tree"

Well, I've managed to knock out another Christmas tree. I'm actually a little behind. I should have three up by now. My little petite kitchen tree is up and decorated.

This is my rustic and homey tree. It's filled with pine cones, birds and leaves, gingham ribbon and acorn bows....
It also has the little personal touch of small frames filled with pictures of family and friends (and of course me). I picked up these small wallet size frames at Dollar Tree and hot glued gingham ribbon hooks on...

That's me all decked out on Grandma's sofa before the Debutante Ball

Speaking of Dollar Tree, they have an amazing assortment of ornaments priced at super low prices. Some are as little as 3 for $1.

Honestly, it's really hard to tell the difference between the gold glitter ornaments I purchased at Macy's a few years ago and the one's I picked up from Dollar Tree.  Just sayin'.

But be careful, the store's options aren't exactly "goof-proof" so here are a few things to keep in mind.

1. Opt for a color scheme that compliments your room. It creates a much more intentional and classy look.

Southern Living

2.  Dollar Tree can be a great source, but stick to one or two colors and buy in bulk.  The volume of similar or like ornaments will have much more impact that a few just here and there.

Southern Living

3.  Load up on the classics.  I purchased traditional gold glass balls in various colors and will use them to fill bowls and jars for a festive (and low cost) holiday look.

4.  Not much for conventional?  Go all out!  It is Christmas after all.

Happy Christmas decorating!  And don't forget you've got until Wednesday night to register to win the Thanksgiving Giveaway! For details, revisit this post.

Giving Thanks Giveaway!

This has been one amazing year, and in the spirit of Thanksgiving I'd like to begin by thanking you.
I appreciate you all more than you know.  Your encouraging words, positive feedback and support truly keeps me going.  I'm a bit of a perfectionist and can often be pretty hard on myself, so hearing kind words from you over the past eleven months has been absolutely inspiring.  I thank God for each of you, and I hope that when you read my posts each week, you glean at least some small tip or idea that helps to make your dwelling a place you love.

I wish I could do giveaways more often and I certainly wish they could be more when I do, but right now they are primarily provided on my dime.  So, in keeping with my budget interior design focus, this week I'll be giving one lucky reader a $25 gift card to Home Goods (TJ Maxx/Marshalls)!

I know $25 doesn't sound like a lot, but you know I'm a firm believer in stretching a dollar and twenty-five of them at Home Goods may get you more than you think.

In doubt?  Check out these items (and corresponding ideas), I scoped out on a recent trip to a local Marshalls.  I don't know about you, but I'd be happy to snatch up any of these options if I had 25 bucks to spend at TJX Brands store.

This pewter wreath is elegant and timeless and best of all can be used through the winter.

Owls are HUGE right now and this snow globe puts a modern twist on an old classic.  I love how West Elm displayed a similar version.

Told you owls were huge, and so is "styling" bookshelves/bookcases.  These bookends would be a lovely addition to either.

Nothing says home like a seagrass basket.  Home Goods/Marshalls/TJ Maxx has a plethora of options.  Almost as many options as there are uses for the baskets.

Fresh towels can instantly update a bath.  Selecting a modern graphic print like this Moroccan trellis is one way to breath new life into a ho-hum bathroom.

And here are a  few other items I wouldn't mind snatching up if I had a $25.00 gift card.

So, I know you're probably thinking how do I win?  It's not hard.  But I really need your help expanding my audience.  If you've enjoyed reading the blog this year, I need you to complete the following two steps below.

"Etsy Art and a Giveaway!"

When budget decorating, sometimes inexpensive art can be a bit of a challenge to find, particularly for kid's spaces.  There really aren't a lot of affordable options out there.  That is, until Etsy came along.

Etsy.com

What is Etsy?  Well, according to their definition, they are the world's handmade marketplace.    I love Etsy for unique and affordable jewelry, art, textiles, etc.

You may remember the "You are my Sunshine" and giraffe prints I used in the nursery project.

Dwell by Cheryl

Clearly, I'm not the only one who thinks that digital art is the way to go.  I love these options too.

Julie Ranee

Emily A. Clark

While working on my current boy's bathroom project, I ran into these prints from Grey Square Designs.  They were not only cute, but I love the fact that I could have them in 24-48 hours (with no shipping costs).

Kate, the designer would simply customize the prints in the color of my choice and email the files to me.

I could take them to a printer or print them myself, frame and matte and be done.  How easy (and quick) is that?

Talk about perfect.  Look how great they look in this bathroom.

She also has a number of other precious options.  This one would be adorable in a nursery or would make the perfect inexpensive gift for new parents.

And, I totally need this one somewhere in my home just as a reminder.  How easily we forget to be grateful.  It would also be perfect for a Thanksgiving vignette in brown or orange.

And now for the good part.....

Kate from Grey Square Designs is offering a giveaway to one lucky reader.  You'll get to choose any of the products available on her Etsy site (up to $16.00 value) for FREE!  So, how do you win?
