Home Office/Studio Update

Hi there! Hopefully some of you are back on the blog after circumventing a not-so little technical glitch. If so, welcome back!

I thought I'd give you a little glimpse into the innerworkings of my creative process today. It seems like I've been talking about my office makeover FOREVER, but I promise this weekend I'm getting started with a fresh coat of paint. No, seriously. I haven't decided what color white I'm going with, but I'll likely make the final decision at the paint store. I'm thinking a white with a hint of gray. I've been collecting little pieces slowly but surely and I've put together an ideaboard to give you a sense of where I'm heading.

Yes, I know it doesn't look like much now, but you'll understand it better by and by. : ) Sorry, a little hymnal humor. I digress.

So, it all started with an awesome crystal chandelier a previous client gave me after we replaced it with a more modern fixture. Needless to say, I was glad to take it off her hands.

Then I stumbled upon an awesome deal on a mahogany desk top at the Habitat ReStore in Hickory.  I scored it for only $25.00 and it's beautiful.  I'm planning to add trestles for the legs similar to the ones pictured above.

I picked up a faux bamboo chair at another Habitat ReStore and I've been holding on to it for quite some time.  I knew the perfect use would come along.  I'm planning to have it reupholstered but I have to decide the fabric.  I figure I'll know it when I see it, but I'm planning to make a decision this weekend.

I purchased a blue velvet ottoman while at the Habitat ReStore in Hickory for the ReStore ReStyle event. It was a sample piece from a very popular NC furniture company.  On that same day I also scored a boat load of fabric, including both gray and white upholstery grade.  I had my workroom create striped panels alternating the two fabrics.  Very excited to be picking them up later this week.

Rugs USA

The rug was a Rugs USA sale find.  I love it.  It's one I've been wanting to use for a while.

A mid-week stop at the Pottery Barn Outlet yielded this cool and colorful "Hello Beauty Full" print.  It was less than $20 and I just couldn't leave it.  It just made me happy, even if it was from PB Teen.  Hey, I'm a kid a heart.

I also picked up two of these bulletin boards.  One is the exact same as the one pictured above, but the other is a black and white dot.  I wasn't very concerned about the fabric, since I plan to recover them anyway.

With the exception of a Chinoiserie lamp, that about sums it up for what I currently have for the project.  The biggest element missing is the storage I desperately need to incorporate.  I'm thinking floor to ceiling shelving to accommodate fabric samples, accessories, etc.  This one literally makes me drool.

I know, it probably makes no sense to you at all, but trust me, I can see it already.  I can't wait to get started.
