"Julian Price Showhouse Project Reveal"

What a year 2018 has already proven to be.  I'm so excited to reveal our Julian Price Showhouse (sponsored by Southern Home and Preservaton Greensboro) project to you today.

It has been one of the most exciting and rewarding projects of my brief career in design.  You can read all about how I got involved on my previous blog, An Amazing Opportunity.

We were tasked with tackling the master dressing room and closet so let's start with the initial plan.  It all began here.

We knew we wanted to go dark to create a moody and masculine feel in the light-filled dressing room that was previously a sunroom off the original master bedroom.  California Closets already had an existing storage plan for both the closet and dressing areas when I signed on.  I just needed to select a countertop for the cashmere finished island and make the room beautiful.  A rich Brentwood Textiles plaid became the jumping off point for the entire design.  It was the perfect mix of buttoned-up fomality and a bit of fun.  With the vibe, color scheme and inspiration selected, we layered other cooridnating textiles from there.

With some additonal planning the vision became a little clearer and we got to work pulling it all together.  It's actually sort of amazing to remember how the space looked when I first saw it back in January.

Even then I could see the potential.  Here's a look at the finished space.

Next on the agenda was the open space opposite the master bathroom which had been designated as the closet.

We began with a blank slate and started by upholstering the back wall of the space with a popular blue/gray performance fabric by Revolution.

As always, Baity's Custom Upholstery did a beautiful job.  The quatrefoil design was inspired by the same detail on the facade on the back side of the home and I love the new use we found for Revolution Performance Fabric.  It looks as beautiful on the walls as it does on furniture.

We pulled the rich blue wall color from the dressing area to the ceiling in this area and continued the color scheme and classic (with a touch of modern) vibe in this adjacent space.  With the closet system in, the stage was set for the finishing touches, which in this case meant Lillian Tony's amazing clothing and footwear.

As a self-professed girly-girl, I had to dig deep on this one. What a fun space this was to design!  I had a blast bringing it all together and I'm so happy to report that the homeowner's Michael and Eric LOVE it!

I'm so very grateful to Southern Home and Preservation Greensboro for this opportunity.  I've made a host of new (talented) design friends and connections that I know will last a lifetime.

Here's a little walk through my partner's from Revolution Peformance Fabrics put together.  Enjoy!

There's still a little time left to check out the home.  Head over to www.julianpricehouse.com for more info!

Southern Spaces for Beautiful Living

Hi there!  It's been a couple of weeks, but I'm back with some pretty exciting news!

Back in May I received a Facebook message from Hoffman Media requesting my mailing address.  Apparently, they were hoping to send me a copy of a design book I was featured it.  Of course, not having any prior knowledge of what they were referring to, I kindly asked for more information.  It turns out, they were putting the finishing touches on a book entitled Southern Spaces for Beautiful Living and a project of mine previously featured in their premiere issue of Southern Home magazine would be included in the new book.  "Say what?"  OMG!  Ok, a magazine is one thing, a design book is another.  I could hardly contain my excitement!

After telling practically everyone close to me, I eagerly awaited the package in the mail.  I waited, and waited and waited some more... It never came.  I checked the Internet weekly for mentions of the book and finally one week in mid-June it appeared on Amazon and subsequently Barnes and Nobles' website. Shortly thereafter, it was added to the publisher's website.  The release date they all indicated was September 8th. "September 8th?" Urgh!! I determined that even if the pre-released copy was on its way, I'd still want another, so I put in an order on Amazon and waited some more.  I waited, and waited and waited.  That is, until today...

On September 8th, expecting to receive an Amazon shipping notification, I received a shipping "update" notification instead.  The book would be shipped on Monday, September 12th.  NOOOOO!!!!!

Well, this weekend yet another update landed in my inbox informing me that my shipment was sent and would be received before 8pm on Monday, September 12th.  After waiting an excruciating 8 hours for the mail person to arrive, I FINALLY received the package.... (Cut to live video)

How exciting is that?  (Ignore the fact that I look like a crazy person.) I honestly recorded it just to capture the moment, but it's so funny that I decided to share it with you guys. According to the media company, the book is the ultimate guide to Southern design.  It  breaks down beautiful living room by room. From kitchens to living areas to master suites, you’ll find a range of looks that embrace the region’s signature styles, as well as savvy ideas from experts and homeowners, to make the most of every space in your home.

Hoffman Media
I haven't even had a chance to look through it yet.  I did glance at the back credits and I saw a few of my social media/design friends included as well.

So, I'm officially published in a book!  And, in case you're wondering, it's my home office that's included.

I'm so very grateful to the folks at Hoffman Media.  They were the first national publication to allow me the honor of gracing their pages and I'm truly humbled to be among the amazing talent included in their latest release.

I know I've said it before but this journey continues to amaze me.  Five years ago, I never would've dreamt that I'd be here today.  It is both a testament to the favor of Almighty God and to setting your mind to something and stopping at nothing achieve it.  Let's mark this day down, because the half has not been told and I'm just getting started. ; )

If you're interested, you can purchase it on Amazon (slightly discounted) HERE.

Until next time...

"Major Milestone"

To say that today was a BIG day in the life of Dwell by Cheryl Interiors would be a gross understatement, but I’ll say it anyway.  Today was a BIG day!

When I began this journey nearly four and a half years ago, I never really imagined that it could become what it has so quickly.  I got a glimpse however, after being contacted several years ago by a magazine that was interested in featuring my master bedroom in an upcoming issue.  Imagine my excitement.  I told almost everyone I knew.  I submitted the photos and answered a few questions and waited patiently…..until the magazine was released and..... I wasn’t included in it.  You can read about my devastation HERE.   You know, they say hindsight is 20/20 and they’re right.  Now I know that the disappointment I experienced was just a prelude to what was to come.

Today I walked in a Books a Million, made a bee line for the magazines and found an issue of Southern Home that featured my home in it!  I still have to pinch myself to believe it. My home is included with the work of design greats like Jan Showers.  Seriously?

I’ve been dying to tell you guys all about it, ever since late April when the photographer showed up at my house.  Yeah, remember that whole 4-week master bedroom project? It was for this!  (Funny enough it's the one space that wasn't included. Go figure!)

Needless to say, I may have staged a photo shoot in the magazine section at the store.

Yeah, you can say I was a bit excited.  Thankfully a stranger came along and agreed to take photos for me.  As luck God would have it, she actually needed a home stager to help sell her home and asked for my card and has already connected with me.  An impromptu photographer and a potential client? Seriously?!

The article is entitled Opulence in Reach and I couldn't have written it better myself. There's a six page spread and I have to admit, it's surreal reading about yourself in a shelter magazine and seeing each and every thrifted find you've acquired highlighted in the BEST light.  I still can't believe it.  I've literally been carrying about an issue for a week and a half now.

This is a major milestone in the life of my business and I can't even imagine what else God has in store but I'm pretty sure the best is yet to come....
