"Pharmacy Lamp Finally Found"

Brass Has Class

I've been yearning for a Pharmacy Lamp for I don't know how long.  It is THE item that tops my thrifting list.  Every time I'm out and about I head straight to the lighting section and hope against hope that one day I'll stumble upon the perfect one.  Pharmacy lamps provide very specific directed light.  In the past they were used by pharmacists who needed well lit workspaces.  The height is typically adjustable, and you can swing the head in different directions towards or way from you as needed.

You see, not all pharmacy lamps are created the same.  They come in a variety of shapes and sizes including floor and desk models. I knew I wanted one with a brass finish and the extended arm.  Much like the $700 Restoration Hardware version pictured here.

Needless to say when I got a text message with this picture attached...

...from my friend Elise on Monday asking if I wanted this thrift beauty for $15, I almost jumped out of my desk and shouted, "Yes!!!"

The finish was beautiful and the lamp (once it was screwed in properly) was in pristine condition.  

I love the fact that it's adjustable in several places.

It's the perfect lamp to have over your shoulder while reading.  In fact, this has become my new morning devotional spot.

They say patience is a virtue, and I'm so glad I held out for this one.  It's PERFECT!  Thanks so much Elise for finding this great deal!  I owe you one.

Easter Color Extravaganza: Mellow Yellow!

I so remember getting baby chicks for Easter.  Awh, fresh eggs... The good ol' days.

Yellow is most certainly one of the hottest colors this Spring.  These pieces are currently on my wish list.

Recently I posted the idea board for a nursery I'm finishing up, so you know how much I'm loving yellow and grey right now.  But, grey isn't the only color that looks great with yellow.  Check out this fresh yellow, white and green combo.

I'm actually a bit surprised that I like this yellow, white and blue scheme. 

I have a color very similar to this one on my kitchen walls, but I really wish it was on my cabinets.  How cute....

With so many variations, yellow is also one of those colors that can go horribly wrong pretty quickly (i.e. school bus yellow).  So be careful.  And, when in doubt, try adding it to your existing scheme or a neutral color palette for a quick update.

I've been spending a lot of time at Kirkland's lately, and I must say that I have been super impressed with the great selection of merchandise.  You may recall me mentioning in a past post that Kirkland's is one of those places where you can quickly get carried away.  But it's seems that they've really stepped up their game.

I've had my eye on these seagrass lamps for a while now.

This modern screen isn't exactly what you'd expect to find at Kirkland's but I love it.

I can't tell you how many times I've looked at this glass behive lamp.  I really like the beehive shape and the tinted glass.  I guess I'm holding out to see if it hits the clearance section anytime soon.

"My Favorite Word"

Well, it's that time of year again. What I like to call the shopping sweet spot.  You know, the time between Christmas and the start of spring.  It seems to be when retailers almost say, "Just take the merchandise please" and I'm quite happy to oblige. 

After the huge inventories are ordered for Christmas (and it seems that it never all gets sold) retailers are forced to clear the shelves as new spring merchandise arrives.  Can you say "shoportunity"?  It's the time of year when I see my favorite word "CLEARANCE" most often. 

So, I did a little browsing today and found some pretty good deals.  Thought I'd share.

Priced between $6.99 and $12.99 this monogrammed bath set is very cute and affordable.  I just purchased similar functioning  items for a client at a national retail superstore and the pricing was comparable and I did not get a monogram.

For some reason light fixtures can get really pricey.  This sleek option is a fabulous open box deal for just $39.86 and Reg.  $129.91.  Not sure about you, but I couldn't care less whether the box is open, closed, torn or whether there's no box at all.
