"Comfy Cozy Kitchen"

First off, thanks to everyone for your kind words regarding my last post.  You guys rock and your encouragement and support means so much.  Now, onward and upward!

Several years ago, I read a Country Home magazine article, The Decorated Kitchen that talked about how to create a warm and inviting kitchen.  It gave great tips on little uncommon things that could be done to increase the comfort quotient in an otherwise utilitarian space.  It was pretty impactful because I immediately implemented some of the suggestions and I never forgot about the article.  I wish I would've clipped it since Country Home is no longer in print.  I was able however to turn up one of the photos from the article.

Country Home

One of the major takeaways for me was adding full length drapes to the kitchen.  It's something that many people don't do, but this simple addition has the power to transform the space.

As you know, for years my ugly ascot valances have been bugging me.  Well, last week I FINALLY replaced them with simple panels.

The idea was to select something cheery that I was immediately drawn to and of course that was a coral toned pink.  I'm a firm believer that color evokes emotion and this one is pretty energizing.

It's taken about a week to get used to, but they are really growing on me.  I think it was such a departure from what I had that I've had to adjust to the color.   Bay windows can present a challenge in terms of hanging window treatments, but don't let that scare you.  Originally, I intended to use those connectors to make one long rod, but in the end, I just used what I had and I think it's barely noticeable that it's three separate rods.

I also think that article I read years ago was right, it is pretty cozy, especially in the evenings.

I like how the panels frame the windows and add so much more color to the space.

Now I just need to decide what to do above this window.....

I know, it was a bold and daring choice, but I'm nothing if not bold and daring.  Lol!  Yeah, right.  I like it.  It makes me happy.

HAPPY MONDAY!

Master Bathroom Makeover Update

I know I use this blog to talk about many of the things I'd like to do in and around my dwelling.  Some of which actually happen and others that are probably more dreams than reality.  Just so you know I'm not all talk, I thought I'd give you an update on my Master Bathroom Project

For starters, you may recall the post where I showed off my new light fixture.  Well, I've finally purchased a few other things including this rug.  I saw it initially, but held out to see if I could find something better and it turns out, I couldn't.

I like the damask print (of course) and the color and size (and price) were good.  I also picked up a  smaller rug for tub side.  Nothing to write home about here.

I've decided not to paint the entire nightstand after all.  I'm thinking I have enough grey already.

I did however, paint the grooves in the trim grey.  I think I like it best that way.  I picked up these cute crystal knobs at The Depot at Gibson Mill last week while standing in the checkout line.  See, impulse buys aren't ALWAYS bad.

Year's ago my friend gave me this large hurricane for my birthday.  I've used it a million different ways, but it's latest purpose is housing my bath salt.

The addition of a scoop also found at Gibson Mill and "Viola!".

I found this hand towel at Ross a month or so ago, and I'm not sure what I was thinking when I only purchased one.  I can't even recall if they had the bath towels or not.  Maybe they're on clearance by now. Hmmmm....

Anyway.  See, I'm not just all talk.  I'm getting some things done around my dwelling as well.

Still need:

  • Chair for vanity
  • Drawer pulls
  • New towels
  • Mirror frame
  • Orchid (yes, I'm getting one)
So, what do you think so far?

Leave me a comment.  I'd love to hear from you.

Easter Color Extravaganza: Tickled Pink!

There's something so nostalgic about Easter week; all the memories of Bobby socks and egg hunts, Easter dresses and speeches, bonnets and sunrise service.

And most of all the color.....

This week, I thought I'd focus on the festive colors on this sacred season.  Today's post is sponsored by the color PINK!  It's my absolute favorite color.

Typically we hear pink and we think little girls, but pink can be grown up too.  I love the idea of using it in the dining room......

Or as an accent color in a room with a very neutral palette.....

And we know how much I like a closet and what more perfect use for the color pink.....

How 'bout a bright pink front door.  Hopefully you'll have more luck than I did....

It's being used on many playfully sophisticated fabrics.....

And just so you know I'm seriously contemplating a pink and grey master bath.  My walls are already pink, so I'm halfway there.

Even though I love it, it's not goof proof.  Here are a few safe bets in terms of paint colors.

Benjamin Moore- Glamour Pink

Benjamin Moore Elephant Pink

Sherwin Williams- Romance

Until next time...
