"Inspiring Weekend Getaway"

New Bern is a small and quaint town in Eastern North Carolina.

It is situated at the convergence of two beautiful rivers, Trent River and Neuse River.  Best known as the birthplace of Pepsi in the late 1700s...

.....and the former NC colonial government and state capital, it has spectacular gardens....

(Thought I stumbled upon the Gardens of Versailles)

 lots of  historic homes...

....quaint shops and cozy restaurants framing it's downtown streets.   It was settled by the Swiss in 1710 and the bear (which translates to bern in Swiss) became the unofficial town mascot.  They were everywhere!

With so much to take in, it was easy to get inspired.  The beautiful gardens made me want to come back and host a garden party...

The scenery also inspired beautiful color palettes....

And the town mascot, well not sure that inspired me at all.

New Bern is a great destination for a short getaway if you just want to chill and maybe even find a little creative inspiration.

Next up, coastal style.  Until then....

Weekend Getaway Sneek Peek!

This weekend I had a chance to completely unplug.  Yep, that's right; no Twitter, no Facebook, no Pinterest, no Instagram, no Houzz, no Blogger and no blackberry. Ok, maybe an Iphone.  It was wonderful!  I took a little mini-vacation to North Carolina's Crystal Coast.

We started out in New Bern, NC and then headed to Atlantic Beach.  I want to be sure to do the trip justice and with my crazy schedule the past couple of days, I thought I'd just give you a sneek peek.

While things started out a little dreary....

Not exactly the view you want to see from your room on vacation.  Not to mention that it made for some interesting hair days.  Thankfully, things cleared up and we were able to take in some great site seeing....

So awesome window shopping at some great shops....

and finally some much needed r & r by the water....

Let's just say, I found my beach.....

Can't wait to tell you more about it tomorrow!
