"An Office for Two"

Hi all!  I'm over here working away!  Just finished up a huge photo shoot on Project Binford this weekend and I can't wait to share with you how things came together in eight of the ten spaces we worked on in this lovely home.

I'm also in the throws of another large project.  It's a quaint new build with a relaxing study, an open concept living area and a screened-in porch that overlooks a beautiful wooded backyard.  I thought about sharing the plan for this one, but they don't do the place justice.  This one you're just going to have to trust me on.

Additionally, I recently presented the plan for a home office for two.  The clients are a young couple, both of whom work from home.  They're looking to convert their formal dining room in their two-story condominium into a functional home office.

The space isn't huge but it's plenty big enough for a desk for two, a seating area, a substantial bookshelf, file storage and additional seating for a guest.  It's the first space you see when you enter the room so it needs to be, not only functional but also beautiful.   We've opted for sleek gray furniture to complement the green walls (Benjamin Moore - Mountain Laurel), statement lighting and colorful abstract art.

The peninsula style desk will allow for multiple computer screens and ample workspace for two.

We decided against shelves on the largest wall since it's the wall you see as you enter the home. Instead, we'll be sourcing a large abstract or two to add color and interest to the main wall in the space.

For seating, we're going with a navy blue occasional chair that's large enough to be comfortable but sleek enough to not overwhelm the space.

The clients loved it all, with the exception of the striped drapes.  Ironically, the entire plan was derived from that swatch.  Thankfully, they're willing to trust me and have decided to go with them anyway.  I think the colors are a perfect combo of masculine and feminine and will work famously with the muted green wall color.  The stripes will heighten the rooms and the slight shimmer will add a hint of formality.

Hope to complete this one pretty quickly, so stay tuned...
