"Camelback Settee Makeover"

I don't know about you guys, but I just can't get enough of this bedroom project. Today, I'm back to share a little more about the furniture makeover.  You know it isn't a Dwell by Cheryl project without at least one piece of vintage furniture and in this case, it was this precious camelback settee.

Looks great now, but it wasn't so pretty to start out.  In fact, it wasn't pretty at all but it did have great bones.  We scored this one on Craigslist for a great price.  Craigslist is a treasure trove of great furniture finds.  If you're in the market to recover a piece, it's one of the best (and most affordable) places to source pieces with classic lines and great construction.  You'd be surprised how little folks will take for items when they just want to get rid of it.

I knew I wanted something with a feminine feel, but I didn't want it to be too ornate.  I thought about a vintage couch (chaise) but the look just wasn't going to work with all the modern elements in the space.  This vintage Lee Industries classic camelback was a great compromise.  The lines are clean and classic and I knew the addition of the rose gold velvet would make it feel much more youthful.

As usual, Mark Baity got to work breaking the piece down and working his magic.  The man is just insanely talented.  It didn't take long to have an entirely new piece of furniture with the quality construction synonymous with so many vintage pieces.

I'd thought about contrast piping for this one, but I figured with so much color and pattern at play in the space, the solid rose was probably the best bet.

Mark finished the piece off with brass nail heads and I couldn't have been more pleased.

Can't you just imagine being curled up on this sweet settee with a book on a rainy afternoon. So cozy!

I'm a big fan of incorporating seating into bedrooms when possible, and that goes for kid's rooms too.  Your bedroom should be a retreat and having a place to relax, not just sleep, really is essential.

It turned out so beautiful! I really like it without the heavy skirt - awesome score realizing those legs were pretty enough to show off! It is exciting when vintage pieces get new life ☺️
