Dwell by Cheryl TV Debut (Video)!

Last Thursday while sitting at my desk working away, I received a call/voicemail from WBTV's Maureen O'Boyle.  If you're local, you know the name because Maureen is a very popular news anchor on the local CBS affiliate.  She left a message saying she was working on a story about budget decorating and the Habitat Restore; two of my favorite things.

Needless to say, I wasted no time in returning her call.  After talking through the details we agreed to meet at the Our Towns ReStore in Cornelius the next day.  Now, here's a little secret; this wasn't my first experience with the news media.  As a Registered Dietitian who worked in School Foodservice, during the height of the childhood obesity epidemic, for a large contract foodservice company, I've been afforded some pretty awesome media training in the past. However, I never would've imagined that those skills would come in handy with my new venture.  You just never know.

In an effort to avoid any added stress, I arrived at the ReStore early and the awesome staff allowed me pull items for the segment, some of which had yet to hit the sales floor.  I piled the basket high with baskets and bottles, artwork and mirrors.  By the time Maureen arrived I was ready to GO.
I took her through most of the items in the basket (and in my car) and then we walked the store to see what other treasures we could find.  Quite frankly, it was hard to tell when we were taping and when we were just talking.  Of course, my news producer little sister informed me that you're ALWAYS taping.  ; )

I really did have a blast and I was pretty pleased with how the segment came out. See for yourself.

There's also a story featured on the website.  Click HERE to link there.

I'm so thankful for my affiliation with the Metrolina ReStores.  Their PR team, Rachel Sutherland Communications ROCKS.  We've got some great things in store for you guys, so be sure to stay tuned in 2014!

Lastly, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to Maureen O'Boyle for reaching out to me.  It was a great opportunity and she was super fun to hang out with too.

Wishing each and every one of you a wonderful Thanksgiving.
